Ingredient Spotlight
Defenskin™
The approach of killing bacteria outright presents a problem – it can lead to the development of antibacterial resistance, meaning new “super-bacteria” that cannot be killed by antibiotic ingredients.
This is bad news both from a future public health perspective, but also healthcare in the here and now, with bacteria resisting the antibiotic ingredients in many current products.
Fortunately, Defenskin™ sidesteps this issue entirely, by working in a different way that bypasses bacterial resistance.
Instead of attempting to kill bacteria, Defenskin™ reduces their adhesion to the skin. It’s been shown to reduce this by up to 97%1 which is obviously every bit as good as it sounds: Bacteria that can’t adhere to the skin can’t colonise your pores or form blemishes.
Imagine chasing a spreading fire with a fire extinguisher, versus preventing the fire from igniting at all – that’s the Defenskin™ difference. It offers proactive defense, rather than attempting to counteract an effect already happening.
Defenskin™ is our main weapon in the fight against blemishes. It’s what sets us apart from other products on the market.
Niacinamide
Firstly, it fights blemishes and prevents their return, reducing their size as well as redness and hyperpigmentation.
But that’s just one of its many benefits. Other positive effects of Niacinamide on your skin include reduced surface sebum levels, reduced pore size, improved surface texture and even the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
It’s a hugely valuable ingredient in our products and can be found across the entire range. It doesn’t just combat blemishes; it also improves your skin in general.
Zincidone®
It’s proven that zinc reduces sebum secretion – and reinforcing zinc with L-PCA enhances both the intensity of its performance and its benefits to the skin.
This improved version of the already effective zinc can be found in various Papulex™ products and is another potent tool against blemishes.
Excess skin oil is a major cause of blemish outbreaks, and Zincidone® helps combat the issue by reducing excess oil to manageable, normal levels
